Dease Lake Civic Addressing and ESS Information Session

Tuesday August 30, 2016
6:00 – 8:00 pm
School District Building Commercial Drive, Dease Lake

Regional District staff will be holding an open house to present the Dease Lake addressing program and answer questions from the community.

The Regional District is developing a civic addressing program for the Dease Lake area. Properties will be provided with a civic address. The purpose of your civic address (house number) is to provide an easy, visible reference for any emergency service vehicles arriving at your residence. By giving a unique number and road name to buildings in an area, certain services are made possible. In some cases, civic addresses might be required for utility hookups, telephone services and other delivery services.

Street names will remain the same, but there will be some changes to the street types (Road, Drive etc.) to conform to addressing standards. Your mailing address may change to a civic address (123 Main Street) instead of a PO Box. Mail would still be picked up at the Canada Post office in Dease Lake. This change could help with the delivery of parcels ordered online.

Naomi Gourlay and Dawn Tomkins from Emergency Support Services will also be on hand to provide information on ESS. ESS trains and prepares to help people who have been forced to evacuate their homes in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

For questions regarding the program, please contact Eva Kerby at the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine 1-800-663-3208 or evak@rdks.bc.ca
