Celebrating the 115th Anniversary of Tahltan Day: Community, Pride, and Solidarity

On October 18, 2025, the TC Rec Centre came alive with the sounds of laughter, music, and celebration as Tahltans gathered to mark the 115th anniversary of Tahltan Day. Families, Elders, and youth travelled from across B.C. to take part in a full day of activities honoring Tahltan culture, connection, and community spirit.

Poker Run

The day kicked off energetically at 9 a.m. with the Poker Run, where teams of two teamed up for a fun challenge. The competition brought plenty of excitement, with prizes for the top three teams — $1,000 for first place, $750 for second, and $500 for third.

Showing Our Tahltan Pride

After the fun of the Poker Run, everyone came together wearing their traditional clothing, filling the space with Tahltan colors and joy. The laughter, smiles, and shared pride in our culture made it a truly special moment — a reminder of how strong and connected our community is.

Community Lunch

At 12 p.m., community members shared a hearty lunch, reconnecting with old friends and welcoming new faces over delicious food.

Tahltan Day Activities

The afternoon carried on with a variety of Tahltan Day activities, including Tahltan Booths, kids’ games, and the always-popular Bannock Contest. By 2 p.m., entries were ready for judging, with door prizes awarded to those with the best bannock.
