Former TNDC President Bill Adsit named to BC Hydro Board of Directors

PR Associates National Communications, a national public relations and communications agency, and the Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC) congratulate Bill Adsit, former president and chief executive officer of TNDC, on his recent appointment to the BC Hydro and Power Authority board of directors.

“I am honoured to be named to the board of BC Hydro and look forward to working with my fellow directors to oversee the implementation of BC Hydro’s long-term vision of ‘Reliable Power at Low Cost for Generations,'” said Bill. “I see this appointment as a tremendous opportunity to continue to strengthen and develop business relationships while jointly providing responsible stewardship to one of our province’s most important resources.”

In his capacity as director, Bill will also serve on one or more of the four standing committees of BC Hydro’s board, and on the boards of directors of BC Hydro’s four active subsidiaries, all of which meet quarterly. His appointment came into effect/term began on November 25 and continues until the end of 2014.

“Bill Adsit is an excellent addition to BC Hydro’s board of directors,” said Robert Simpson, president and chief executive officer of PR Associates. “He is a true visionary and outstanding business leader. Bill excels at building relationships and brings great vision and extensive knowledge and leadership experience to his role as a director.”

“I congratulate Bill Adsit on his respected appointment,” said Garry Merkel, CEO/president of TNDC. “Bill has a very strong work ethic and will bring a solid business sense to this board. His experience with First Nations, managing businesses to build hydro and other infrastructure, and auditing and managing finances will be very valuable perspectives for the BC Hydro board.”

Bill retired as the president and CEO of TNDC at the end of September after 10 years at the helm. Earlier this year, he was recognized with an Industry Council for Aboriginal Business award recognizing his leadership and contributions in fostering business between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal business in his work with TNDC and support of other First Nations in capitalizing on economic opportunities.
