The Emergency Responder (EMR) course is an entry-level introduction to emergency medicine.
This course provides training that students require in order to gain employment as an Emergency Medical Responder within a range of areas including:
- Ambulance Services
- Life Guarding
- Industrial Emergency Services
- Medical Response for Fire Departments
- Ski-Patrol
- Medical Services for Events
The EMR course also provides candidates with foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology; supporting further education in allied health science courses including; Health Care Aide, LPN, RN and Occupational Therapy.

Upon successful completion of the EMR Course, graduates receive:
- CPR for Health-Care Providers |CPR-HCP | Valid for 3 Years
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 Certificate
- Nationally Recognized Standard First Aid
- 6.5 Education Credits | BC Ministry of Education
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits granted by EMA Licensing Board
